Thank you for your Interest and Welcome to Team Bison

Team Bison is a competition oriented Mixed Martial Arts Fight Team.  Competing is not necessary to be part of the team or to take part in training.  Those who want to attend simply for the fitness, self defense and camaraderie are welcome to do so.  But keep in mind our focus is competition and we do train to that end.  Training most nights is equal parts conditioning, technique and sparring.  Depending on where the team is in a training cycle.  The closer we are to a fight the more focus there is on conditioning and hard contact drills.
Every night is a little different.
Your first night expect to participate and roll.  There is no easing into the water.
For your first night I suggest shorts, t-shirt, mouth guard and cup.  If you have grappling gloves or the like; bring them along.
Monthly Dues are $45 - You will pay your first dues at the start of your second month of training with us.  So the first month is free.  During that first month however you should buy some equipment

The first thing you must have are 7 OZ training gloves ($40).  We use these gloves for striking and grappling gloves and they are the best on the market bar none.  They make decent bag and mitt gloves as well - but are very important for striking drills and sparring.

Beyond those gloves I would make the following suggestions

Ÿ         Grappling gloves - the best on the market are Combat Sports 5 OZ gloves

Ÿ         A custom - fitted Mouth Guard.

Ÿ         Hand Wraps - Mostly to protect the webbing in-between your fingers

Ÿ         Rash Guard the nature of the sport is sweaty and through sweat lots of things can get passed along such as ring worm

Ÿ         Shorts.  Board shorts work pretty well but mostly you want shorts that won’t move around too much. The preferred brand is Clinch Gear - we are working on a deal with them for Custom shorts.  I think they are the best fitting and over all best fight shorts available.  See http://www.clinchgear.com/products.asp?cat=8

Ÿ         Wrestling shoes.  At times you will not be able to or want to fight with shoes - But regardless shoes are very helpful in avoiding foot, toe injuries which are common.

Ÿ         Supplements - The biggest thing to be concerned with is immune system supplements.  This sport tends to drain people and colds, viruses and so on get passed on pretty easy.  Keep your immune system high.

Ÿ         Bison T-shirts.  Team Pride… what more can I say

Ÿ         A decent gym bag to carry all your gear

Before your first fight you must have professional fight shorts and quality fight gloves.

 Thanks Mike
